The Command Academy is appointing instructors now. Bring your own course material, set your own schedule, and teach officers and supervisors across the country — as an independent practitioner, not an employee.
We are actively reviewing instructor applications for upcoming terms. Applying does not commit you to anything — it starts a conversation.
Apply NowOfficers do not need another lecture from someone who has never held the position. They need the people who have. That is the entire faculty model.
You are not handed a script. You teach the calls, the promotions, the internal investigations, the budget fights, and the leadership decisions you actually lived. That is the part no textbook covers.
Already have a class you've delivered at conferences or in-service? Bring it as it stands. Starting from an outline instead? Our academic staff will help you shape it into a course with objectives, modules, and graded coursework.
Your name stays on your work. You keep teaching it elsewhere if you want to. We schedule it, fill it, and support it — we do not take it from you.
Instructors are engaged as independent contractors on a 1099 basis. You are a practitioner we contract with, not a staff member we manage.
Choose your term, your dates, your session times, and how many sections you take on. Teach one course a year or several a term. You decide what you can carry.
Your compensation is agreed in writing before a section opens — a share of tuition or a flat rate per student or section. Different courses can carry different terms.
Academic Review
Every course is reviewed by the Academy before its first section opens. That review is the reason a Command Academy transcript means something to a chief, a sheriff, or a promotional board — and it works in your favor.
You get an academic read on your material: where the objectives need sharpening, where the coursework should carry the weight, where a real-world scenario will land harder than a slide. Most instructors tell us their course got stronger.
Review is about structure and defensibility, not about editing your point of view. Your voice, your stories, and your judgment are the product. We protect them by making sure the course around them is built to hold up.
Your job is the teaching and the final grades. Everything administrative is ours.
Record and build it once; officers move through on their own time. Lowest ongoing time commitment.
A cohort moves through your course together with your coursework, deadlines, and feedback.
Scheduled sessions you teach live to officers across the country from wherever you are.
Independent work between live sessions — the format most command-level material lands best in.
01
Tell us your service history, the course you want to teach, and how you'd like to deliver it. Fifteen minutes, one form.
02
We talk through your material, your audience, and the format. If the fit is right, we move to a teach-back.
03
You deliver a short segment of your own material. This is how we vet every instructor — and how you see how we operate.
04
We open your instructor file, agree your compensation in writing, and build your course. We create your Academy account for you.
05
We handle enrollment, tuition collection, the classroom, and transcripts. You teach and submit final grades.
Current or former law enforcement supervisors, commanders, chiefs, sheriffs, and the civilian leaders who run agency functions.
Promotional preparation, first-line supervision, internal affairs, critical incident command, budgeting, policy, discipline, wellness, community trust.
We are not looking for a second version of a course we already run. We want the angle only you can teach.
One form: your service history, the course you have in mind, and how you would like to teach it. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and every appointment includes a short teach-back before your first section opens.
